FAQ's

Are You Accepting New Patients?

Yes. Our practice will be converting to a Concierge Model and an annual fee will be required to establish care in our office. We plan to open up to new patients who wish to participate in the Concierge plan in Spring 2023.

Do You Accept My Insurance Plan?

We accept, and are in network with, Anthem HMO Maine, Anthem Blue Choice PPO, Anthem MEA Choice, Maine Community Health Options, Aetna, Cigna, Harvard Pilgrim, United Healthcare, and TriCare.

For Aetna, Harvard Pilgrim, and Anthem, we recommend calling member services to ask if Dr. Peter B. O'Donnell is in network for your particular plan. We are not always a "preferred provider" with each and every plan and this may impact your reimbursement for visits in our office.

At this time we do not accept new Medicare patients.

If you are getting your insurance through "Obama care" or the Healthcare.gov site, the only plans we are in network with are Community Health Options.

What is the difference between a Wellness/Preventive Visit and a Regular Office/Sick Visit? How will my insurance be billed for these appointments?

Wellness/Preventative Physical

The purpose of this yearly visit is to focus on a thorough physical exam, disease prevention, and routine screenings. Our goal is to keep you healthy and catch any abnormalities early before they become a serious problem.

This visit would not focus on new concerns or follow up care to any pre-existing medical problems or illnesses.

Office/Sick Visit

An appointment to address a new health complaint, acute injury or illness, or routine follow up for pre-existing medical problems.

How insurance will be billed

Ideally, your Wellness/Preventative visit will include a physical exam, discussion of  screening and education about and ordering of preventative screening tests.

If time allows, and additional concerns can be addressed during your yearly preventive physical, your insurance will be billed for both a wellness/preventative visit & an office/sick visit.

You are financially responsible for any office visit charges that are not covered under your Wellness/Preventive insurance policy benefits.

If you have questions or concerns regarding your individual insurance benefit policies, please call your insurance company to verify your coverage and understanding of your benefits prior to your visit.
